WIND POWER INDIA 2011 Conference is the first-of-its-kind international wind event to take place in India. It is the international counterpart of India’s coveted national wind event, WIND INDIA, which was launched in 2006 in Pune, India, by the renowned sustainability think-tank, the World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE). Following its resounding success, WISE decided to hold the event on a biennial basis, and this gave rise to the second WIND INDIA event in 2008 in Chennai, India.
With India’s current cumulative installed capacity reaching 11,800 MW and forecasts by WISE predicting a 5000 MW annual market by 2015, India is being touted as THE current global wind investment destination. In order to bring the global wind fraternity into the realm of this huge and upcoming Indian wind market, WISE has joined hands with two major international stalwarts from the wind arena, namely the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA). Together, the three aim to bring the global wind power industry and all associated stakeholders under one single roof, providing the unique opportunity of exploring some of the choicest wind investment opportunities that the Indian wind power sector has to offer.
With the participation of more than 1000 delegates, 200 exhibitors and 60+ speakers from the national and international wind power industry , WIND POWER INDIA 2011 Conference provides a never before global experience of being amidst a distinguished gathering of high level government officials, policy makers and regulators, as well as eminent financiers, academics, and industry chieftains from India and abroad. The mega exhibition to be set up in an area of 4400 sq.m. would demonstrate state-of-the-art technologies, R&D, and major innovations, besides offering exclusive facilities for product launching for the wind and its ancillary industry.
‘Awards of excellence’ would be presented to various stakeholders from the Indian wind industry in recognition of their meritorious achievements and contribution in shaping a ‘clean and green India’. Titled 'WIND INDIA Awards', these awards were instituted by WISE for the first time during WIND INDIA 2006. In addition, the event would feature exclusive side events on crucial topical issues and the conference would be packed with highly informative and interactive sessions, with a special focus on emerging opportunities in the small wind and hybrid sector in India.
